"Take a left, go three blocks then a hang a right. Walk
two blocks, and turn right one more time."
"Where's
that?"
"I don't know but it will determine the rest of you
life"
Thailand
didn't go as planned for me, but I still succeeded in the main goal of experiencing an new culture. I sat at my first 10 minute red light, ate my first grasshoppers,
lost my first passport, and watched a moped crash going 35mph. It proved to be
a chaotic 12 days.
I landed in the wild city of Bangkok on the 12th
of December and proceeded to explore the city for a few days and fall in love
with Pad Thai before cleverly loosing my passport. Getting passports and visas
in America is what some describe as a pain in ass. Doing this Thailand quickly
put things in perspective as I walked, rode the buses, the sky train, the
metro, and back the of motorcycles all in order to apply for an emergency
passport and start the 5 day process of getting another Indian visa.
As my
Indian visa was being processed I shot down to Island of Koh Tao. Here I
snorkeled, cruised around on a scooter, and read in my bungalow that was ready
to crumble into the ocean. A much need break from the madness of Bangkok. Short
but sweet.
Back in Bangkok with my passports, visa, a new passport
holder, and my plane tickets to India I tried kickboxing and found one more
career I won't be pursuing. Two hours of sweating, punching, kicking, kneeing,
elbowing and grunting. After the 12 day whirlwind had passed I headed to India where my brother had been living for 5 month and was ready to explore the rest of the country. I was confident if would be another wild ride.
